VK Messenger and Solovo: a fresh chat without an abrupt switch

If your friends and conversations already live on VK, there is no need to close the chats you are used to. VK Messenger gives you a separate interface for talking to VK friends and phone contacts. It is a convenient place to continue conversations that have already become part of everyday life.

Sometimes a new group or a shared task calls for a clean chat with no old feed and no stray conversations. For that you can open a separate group in Solovo, invite the people close to you and move only future messages there. The archive stays on VK, and the new conversation starts without confusion.

This kind of move does not require picking one messenger forever. It is enough to split the roles: keep VK for your existing contacts and use Solovo for a new family or friends space.

What VK already offers

VK Messenger is tied to your VK account. Once you sign in, your VK friends are there, and you can add contacts from your phone book as well. That removes extra steps when the people you need and your conversation history are already inside the service.

In chats you can send text, voice and video messages, photos, videos, music, stickers and posts from VK. Voice and video messages can be transcribed, and conversations can move to audio and video calls, group calls included.

That is enough for everyday communication. So the point is not to drop VK in a hurry, but to separate a new circle or a new process from older conversations when you actually need to.

Why start a new chat

A separate chat helps when a conversation has a clear purpose: a family group, planning a trip, weekend plans, talking to parents or a small group of friends. Everyone immediately knows where to look for past messages and where to send new ones.

Solovo is built for exactly that kind of communication. Family and friends can chat, call each other, share photos and files, and keep shared plans next to the conversation. The new conversation starts in a clean space, while the old archive stays where it is.

Chats without the noise

Solovo brings together private and group chats. You can send text, voice and round video messages, photos, videos and files. Conversations support reactions, static and animated stickers, quoted replies, forwarding and editing your own text messages.

The easiest way to bring people into a new group is an invite link. Create the link in the group settings and send it into your existing VK conversation. Once everyone has joined, you can revoke the invite and issue a new one whenever you need to.

The app has no ads and no paid subscriptions. A family or friends conversation is not mixed with ad blocks and prompts to upgrade to a paid plan.

Calls, when messages are not enough

When a message cannot replace a live conversation, use an audio or video call. Solovo supports private and group calls. A small video meeting can bring together up to five participants.

During a group call you get screen sharing, camera switching, reactions, a raised hand and a speaker indicator. These come in handy when the family is choosing tickets, friends are discussing a route or a small team is reviewing a document together.

Before the first group call, check the microphone, camera and sound for every participant. A short trial run beforehand helps sort out permissions instead of losing time during the conversation itself.

Plans next to the conversation

The family planner helps lift tasks out of the message flow. You can assign household chores, set reminders and mark things as done. That way an agreement is not lost between photos, voice messages and replies.

Pick one simple process: preparing a trip, a weekend to-do list or splitting household tasks. Once everyone is comfortable, add new processes gradually. A chat stays easy to follow when every list has a specific purpose.

Access and privacy

Data in Solovo is encrypted in transit. On supported devices the app can be locked with a passcode, Face ID, Touch ID or a fingerprint. That protects your conversations if an unlocked phone ends up in someone else's hands.

Grant permissions by task. Contacts are needed if you want to find people from your phone book, the camera and microphone are for calls, access to photos and files is for attachments. If the invitation arrives as a link, full access to your address book is not required to join the group.

Encryption in transit and app locking are not the same as end-to-end encryption of every chat. If you plan to discuss sensitive data, read the current privacy policy and the terms of the mode you need first.

What to rely on today

When you move over, use only the features that are already available: private and group chats, messages, files, calls, invitations and the family planner. That is enough to move one clear scenario and test it in ordinary life.

Secret chats, bill splitting, smart shopping lists, mini-games and some of the work tools are still in development. Do not build a mandatory process around a feature that is not yet in the installed version.

Moving a family chat

Say your family discusses the weekend on VK. The old conversation already holds photos, birthday wishes, contacts and stray links. There is no need to move the whole archive: create a separate group in Solovo for new plans and conversation.

Go step by step:

• Agree on what the new chat is for: family news, weekend plans, shared photos or trip preparation.
• Create a group in Solovo and give it a clear name.
• Issue an invite link and send it into your existing VK conversation with a short explanation.
• Keep both channels alive during the trial period so nobody misses a message because of a late install or muted notifications.
• Together, send a text, a photo, a file and a voice message, then make a short call.
• Write down a simple rule: which messages now go to the new chat and which stay on VK.

Only the new conversation lands in the new group. Nobody has to hunt for missing history, and the familiar chat is one tap away at any moment. Once the first scenario sticks, move the next one.

How to sign up

Solovo can be installed from the App Store or Google Play. If you would rather not start with the mobile app, open the web version at app.solovo.ru/. You need a working phone number to sign in.

Signing up is short:

• Open the app or the web version.
• Enter your phone number and request a code.
• Type in the code from the SMS.
• Follow the on-screen prompts to finish signing in and set up your profile.
• Find someone you know or follow an invite into your first group chat.

Never pass the SMS code on to anyone else. Individual button labels may differ between mobile devices and the browser, so follow the prompts on your own screen.

The first few days

Right after signing in, check notifications in Solovo and in your device settings. Send a test message, lock the screen and see whether the alert arrives the way you want it to.

Then send an attachment and make a short call. That checks the microphone, camera, sound and file access for everyone involved. If your device supports locking the app with a passcode or biometrics, turn it on once you are signed in.

While the group is settling in, keep urgent arrangements out of the new chat. First make sure everyone receives messages, opens attachments and joins calls. After that you can draw the line between the two services for good.
